Come find the pug of your dreams on January 7th at the Centinela Feed and Pet Supply in Santa Monica from 11:30am to 3pm.  The Pug Nation Rescue will have lots of adorable pug pals for you to meet. These dogs have been abandoned, neglected, abused and forgotten but you can give them a 2nd chance at life.

Pug Nation Rescue is a non-profit dedicated to finding forever homes for as many pug pups as possible. They are planning on having adoption events once a month so if you can’t make this one be sure to check out their site and attend the next event. You can also view pictures of pugs ready for adoption.

We’re sponsoring a wonderful event brought to you by Pryor’s Planet, a non-profit organizations fighting for animal rights and exposing animal cruelty.  This event will not only benefit Pryor’s Planet but also ARME (Animal Rescue, Media & Education).  Enjoy a fun filled evening at The Comedy Store on Friday , December 2nd at 7:30pm. Comics and celebrities in attendance include George Lopez, Chris D’Elia, Russel Peters & Eleanor Kerrigan. Next Tuesday, July 26th from 6-11pm at the Orpheus Lab there will be a potluck event brought to you by Our Hen House!  The ladies are in town for the Animal Rights Conference and want to get together with all their Los Angeles friends!

Bring a vegan dish that will feed 8-10 people.  Head over to their Facebook page to RSVP for this event and leave a comment if you know what dish you’re bringing!  You can also get one one of their super cute tote bags by making a $20 donation.

July 21st – 25th

  • Animal Rights Conference:  With over 100 speakers and 60 organizations involved this is sure to be the largest animal rights gathering.  Free vegan snacks, lots of information sharing & networking and discounted sleeping rooms are some of the highlights of the conference. Click here for all the details. **ADI will be offering a shuttle from the Animal Rights Conference to Veggie Grill (see below) all day on Saturday July 23rd. **

July 23rd

  • Veggie Grill Fundraiser: Benefiting Animal Defenders International, this Veggie Grill fundraiser is at the El Sungundo location only!  50% of the proceeds will be donated but you have to mention ADI when you order.  See their Facebook page for details. **ADI will be offering a shuttle from the Animal Rights Conference to Veggie Grill all day on Saturday July 23rd. **

August 6th

  • Summerlicious Vegan Shindig:  Head to The Other Door Bar from 1-6pm for a vegantastic event to benefit ARME!  Entrance fee is a $10 donation to ARME.  There will be pool tables, a large sit down bar and vegan food trucks!  Details are here.

Saturday June 25th

  • Anti-Fur Conference in Washington DC:  Though already sold out they will be giving out day passes for this event. This conference is focused on issues concerning all fur-bearing animals.
  • Vegan Beerfest: Presented by Quarrygirl and Tony’s Darts Away, this beerfest will include vegan food trucks, bands and over 40 craft beers.
  • Sea No Evil Art Show:  Over 100 artists have been confirmed for this show.  Captain Paul Watson from “Whale Wars” will be in attendance and a VIP ticket ($100) will get you a private meet & greet.  $10 donation for regular admittance.

Sunday June 26th

Animal Adoptions

  • More Beautiful Beagles:  We posted recently about the rescue of 9 beagles from a research lab by the wonderful Beagle Freedom Project led by Shannon Keith.  They have since rescued 3 more.  If you or anyone you know is interested in fostering or adopting one of these sweet beagle boys (or any of the first group of rescues) please contact Shannon.  You can read about the rescue and watch a video of the beagles’ first moments of freedom outside their cages.

Friday June 3rd

  • Whale Wars Season 4 Premiere:  Head over to Santa Monica for the Whale Wars season 4 premiere episode with a Q&A session with the cast.  You can also get a free Whale Wars/ Animal Planet beach towel if you’re one of the first 1,500 people there.

Saturday June 4th

  • Really Really Free Market: This will be a gathering of people to share food, music, smiles, clothes, toys, books, useable items, skills, poetry and more!  Bring what you can and enjoy some vegan food!

Sunday June 5th

  • Food Not Bombs: Consider volunteering to help give vegan food to hungry people.  You can show up unannounced to any location and stay any amount of time.
  • Sock Hop to Benefit the Gentle Barn: Entry is $20 cash or check at the door.  Dance lesson is from 7:30-8pm and the Swing Dance if from 8-10:30pm.

Animal Adoption

  • Rover Rescue Mobile Adoption Event: Saturday June 4th in Redondo Beach you can meet some adorable homeless pups looking for a friend.  This adoption event will be held at Centinela Feed & Pet Supply.
